technology!

Don't you just love technology!  iphones, digital cameras, hdtv! (love that), but man when it goes down...it just sucks!  yeah, david and lorie I said sucks...
One day the computer is working, the next day, not...so, blogging is on hold til I figure out what to do.  I don't need that great of a computer, I keep our household books on it, pictures, simple stuff, so didn't purchase a great computer...an emachine from Best Buy a little extended warranty time ago, by 3 mos.  It's only several months over two years and I have had it into Best Buy 3 or 4 times...so, not gonna spend money fixing it...so, blogging will be very limited...if you really care.
So, that's technology for ya!

Ditty about teeth

In honor of brand new teeth, I was thinking how important are teeth, other than the obvious needing to chew. Without teeth one wouldn't be able to say...
'chew on that for a while'
or 'did you bite off more than you can chew?'
or be able to grind your teeth
or 'bite your lip'
or the anticipation of the tooth fairy!
just a few thots about how important are teeth! Welcome new teeth!!!

Solomon in all his glory

'Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you...' Matt 6:29,30b

Though the pictures just don't do it justice! Isn't it funny, how hard man tries to make things beautiful and yet it just doesn't compare to this...

Duane and I had a mini vacation. A few days at the central coast. Ahhhhh....windy, cold, sleep with the window open to hear the waves breaking...fog and the eventual peeking of the sun...walks along the beach, eating at our favorite ole haunts...
and the ever present ocean chickens (that's for you Walt!)

And what fun to meet up with your kids and their extended family at the burger joint of choice! Yum... (PS and squeeze Henry!)

Remembrance

It's your birthday today. I remember. I have thought about you all day, remembering the fun times we had as young married couples. I've thought about you today, I've not forgotten, as I think of enjoying fondue together, your chocolate was great! and pnut butter sandwiches, liver and onions, the many bites of brownies, yum...the ones that didn't have any calories, the crumbs!!
And the boys playing 'Dukes of Hazard!' On your Mark, Nick set go in your backyard on Idaho Street! Piano lessons for Lorie, dinners together, with china and silver dishes! The men 'spending time together looking at magazines! I remember.
And though I have lost contact with Steve and your children, I think about you more than you probably would guess. You were a dear friend! I remember it's your birthday today!

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. You ran a good race... Happy Birthday Sue...

A good day!

It has been a day in which I delight. The kind of day that feeds my soul. Coffee with my husband, our Saturday morning ritual, well most mornings we drink coffee together, but Sat morning is special. I have a friend who goes for coffee with her husband early in the morning. Through the years as we have spent weekends together, they are up and out the door before most of us are awake. I enjoy going for a drive on occasion, but our habit has been to wake the morning with coffee, mostly in the dark or very little light (Scott I know you are screaming about this now!) and watch the day come to life, discussing whatever passes through our brains...
I fixed breakfast, pancakes, yum, with Kaula!, new experiment(that's for you Mike) thinly sliced bananas and pecans...tasty! A phone call from my far away friend I have also enjoyed today! Oh what a blessing she has been in my life. I truly love that lady! I would wish every woman a friend like her. This lady knows no stranger, befriends authentically everyone she meets, from the dry cleaning woman to the 7-eleven clerk! We chatted and got caught up on life, her husbands new decision which means another adventure for her! Cooking school? Do they know what that will be? LOL! Hang on Carole is all I have to say!
It was beautiful outside this morning, then, not now. So, I finally pulled out the last two plants in my front yard that I just don't like and planted my hydrangea, did some trimming, pulled a few weeds, awesome! Why is it, like painting, when the yard is trimmed and weeded it just gives me such satisfaction. Of course, it is blowing gale force winds outside now, and I'm not sure a person will be able to tell I worked in the yard at all! And then off for a walk with Duane and another cup of coffee on the patio as we watched the wind begin to REALLY blow! Finally went inside to run the vacuum and dust, clean bathrooms...ahhhh...Duane helped by running the dust cloth and 'cooked' dinner ( a trip to Road Kill Grill) as I finished some laundry. And now, it's time to climb into clean sheets, after a hot bath and a glass of wine...hmmmm...red, a new favorite, Blackstone. It truly has been a good day!

Hmmmm

Here I sit at my desk, which I should be putting tax info together for it is that time of year. Seems, I haven't blogged much as of late. It's been a roller coaster season of sorts, with taking on new responsiblities at work, to family issues. The few times I've been compelled to blog, I've just read my Lorie's blog and she has said many of the things I've felt, or have had jumbled around in my head which I haven't been able to cohesively put into thoughts.
But, that doesn't mean I haven't blogged!!! As you will see, I HAVE blogged and have pictures to prove it! Ta da da!!
I love the contrast of the bright blue sky (only in the winter time in Bako-land) and the dark random branches.

And pictures of our snow covered mountains! What, we have mountains!! Yes, it is the time of year I enjoy most...changing weather patterns, clouds, a little rain, some days 70 degrees, other days jackets and sweatshirts!
But the life of a blogger sees things a little differently. Take for instance the importance of wedding and or shower gifts! How important to have the just the right kitchen gadgets and mixers...you just don't understand how completely useful they will be down the road!

Or when you might just need to take a picture of something really important!
I'll spare you the attempted picture of my fried chicken in a cast iron skillet! My new all time favorite way to cook chicken!
So, this goes to show, blog-land has been on my mind and in my camera, just not on paper? cyberland, blog-land?!!!
Of course, I have to end with a picture of our Henry! 5 months old already! I have to steal these from Lorie! I can't make up my mind which one is my favorite! Love you Henry, thanks for the coffee and cookie today!!

January 2008

So while all you college football fans watched as USC put away Minnesota and or Hawaii and UGA, I had spring fever! Usually when we peer at the Rose Parade through the TV and make annual remarks that range from, we should go, or do we really want to fight the crowds or get up really early to drive, and drule over the wonderful 70+ degree weather as we sit in our cold, damp, fog covered valley, today was an exception! Thanks to wonderful Santa Ana winds we in Bako-land actually enjoyed pleasant weather, that is if you ever ventured away from the football games, more than just refill your dip and drink. I on the other hand, pruned rose bushes, and gardenia bushes, and even made a trip to Lowe's for a few Pansy's to replant my pots on the front porch. Yeah, Coleus don't really like cold weather...and the trip to Lowe's needs to go down in my personal best yet. I actually went in to the garden area, perused the plants, picked up two pony paks of Pansy's, paid $4.25 out the door and had them in the pots in 30 minutes! Now that IS a record. I can't hardly walk through the garden shop anywhere in less than 30 minutes! and under $5! that definitely has to be noted somewhere!
