Whew the month of May!

Wow! It is hard to believe it is the end of May! May has flown by(e)! It has been celebrating of birthdays, Nick 60! Jan 60! Jini's over 60! mine, not 60! Mother's Day! the end of Duane's school year and off to the coast for a weeks vacation!

My birthday and Mother's Day is usually celebrat
ed together, along with my sister and Jan's in years past! But in the last few years my children have worked hard to separate them, (since I whine about being cheated!) This year Lorie took me for a pedicure and we went to our favorite store, Target, for shoes, we dined on appetizers at PF Changs for lunch. And a new make up make over! which we just did this week! Lots of fun and laughs! And who would know David would learn and LOVE to cook, grilling anything he can!! He cooked delicious salmon, asparagus, yum!
And flowers
from David and Jamie in a cool ceramic pot (hydrangeas) and a large photo of their wedding!! Which I just can't stop looking at!

And vacation! Cayucos Beach, California. One of the few unspoiled beach towns. It still has the charm of old time beach towns of
no franchises, just mostly main street enterprises which change owners all the time, antique stores, candy/ice cream store!
Skippers burgers and of course the Sea Shanty, which has every known ball cap hanging from the ceiling!! It was completely awesome.

So, tomorrow it is back to work, very sad day...too bad we can't just always live on vacation, with never ending money!! Yeah, right.

Dogs and Cats, but mostly dogs

Dogs are man's best friend. I've known a few cats that were so, but mostly, it is dogs. Who wouldn't want a friend to great you at the door as if you've been gone forever, even if you've just been to the mailbox and back. Or someone to wake you in the middle of the night with their cold wet nose...who could miss that? Or catch your frisbee or ball, or stuffed lobster? We have had a saying around our house for years, when the dogs misbehaved...'say your goodbyes' meaning the dogs were to be given away...(I always pleaded their case) but somehow they/she has managed to stay. :) This week my co-worker did have to say his good bye to his best friend. What a hard thing to do. My heart goes out to him knowing my dog is probably not that far behind...I shudder to think how much we Americans spend on our dogs and or pets, when people around the world don't have enough to eat. But, we do, because they are part of our family, and as it is so difficult to say good bye to our mom's and dad's or brothers and sisters, friends and others, it is difficult to say good bye to this part of our family. They have been our friend through the years, sensing our happiness and sadness, our enthusiasm, no matter what, they are and have been our cheerleaders and companions. So, it is we mourn the passing of our friends...

spot light lunch

It is still spring! Have you ever noticed people don't recognize spring? Isn't spring the time when weather is unpredictable? In winter, you know it's cold, thus the name winter. Summer is the same, hot! But spring and fall are the indecisive seasons. But spring can be hot one day and cold and rainy the next. Yet the comments are always the same. If it is hot for several days, the comment is, 'we sure didn't have any springtime' and yet in a few days it could be cool and maybe rainy, and the comment is the same; 'its winter time again, the weather can't make up its' mind'. Hmmmph, thus it IS spring! All that to say, the lovely spring day made for a lunch time treat of eating outside on the sidewalk of this cute cafe Jamie discovered! What fun to have lunch together!
