I find it rather interesting we are about 900 miles apart and yet so very close. What do you think?

I think it is funny to think my brother and his family enjoying the Oregon Coast and Duane and I enjoying the California Coast at the same time. Though, I believe it runs much
deeper...You see, as a youngster, and only for a couple short years did I live at Cannon Beach. We lived next to our Grandparents at a time which was rather difficult for our mother, being divorced from her husband with 4 children to support. Grandparents, acting as grandparents do, came to California/Nevada and 'retrieved' us back to Oregon, where my mother's family roots lie. And so, to Cannon Beach, where my grandparents had retired, sort of, we went. At that time Cannon Beach was a 'beach town' of about 350 people, mostly made up of vacationers in the summer from Portland. But as I remember the gravel road, wet down by used oil from the truck my grandpa drove, to keep the dust down, and a short walk to the ocean front where my grandmother walked most evenings...to feeding the seagulls bread crumbs...'gramma's chickens' to have a 'weenie roast' on the beach after you scoured the beach for driftwood...building a huge bonfire to warm ones 'backside'...those are memories I have...and so Cayucos, though different in so many ways still, at least for a short while, still has the 'beach town' feel. My brother and I share those feelings, drawn to the 'beach' for many reasons...that's why I believe it runs deeper...
