The loss of the top (the light), which is actually on display in downtown Cambria!

Tours are now being offered at the Piedras Blancas Light Station in San Simeon Calif. It was great to walk through the buildings and hear the story dating from 1866 when President Andrew Johnson signed the authorization for 8 light houses to be constructed. And Piedras Blancas is one of them...work commencing in 1874. We don't have many very old buildings in this part of the woods, so it's kinda fun to see something that dates from the Civil War era! At this point they aren't allowing people to climb to the top

A photographers dream place!
