80!!!

The chant at dinner was 80! She's 80! with crazy birthday singing we celebrated both evenings at the Horn family favorite restaurant, Woolgrowers! Memories run deep of small boys falling asleep in the booths and staff helping to carry 3 little boys to the car! And now many, many years later, and the 3 grown men living in different parts of the country, the visits infrequent, the staff still remembers them by name! So it was the right place to celebrate their mom, Margaret's 80th birthday!
My mother-in-law belies her age. She laughs with childlike enthusiasm, enjoys each trip or shopping time, or a ride in the golf cart, with freshness and delight! Trips to Sonic are always good for a laugh AND food on her shirt! She loves her 4 boys and now delights in her great grand boys! It has been such a blessing to see her follow Jesus, enjoying her Bible Study and soup kitchen work!
With much love, Happy 80! Birthday! Mother! Mom! Margaret! Grandmother!

Musings montecito II

Ahh! The beach. Foggy and overcast this morning. I walked out onto the sand this morning looking anew....sand is mostly quartz! And maybe could find some of the alluring blue or green pieces of glass? But I was awarded with a pod of dolphins feeding in front of me! I did find some treasures! Some green sea glass, a rock which looks like petrified driftwood and a complete top half of a crab shell! Henry will like that!

I also spoke to a young man. I had seen him in the ocean on his surf board, but also pushing a bright red one along side of him. He said he was delivering an order, a new surf board to a customer and he actually lived on the boat. But now he was going surfing, had to go some where with waves! He then proceeded to ask me, 'do you see that line of energy right there and that line out by my boat, that's another line of energy, and that line of energy out there, pointing'. Which I promptly replied I did. He then went onto explain something about the waves in New Zealand were creating this energy here and he was going surfing man! Yeah, you do that dude!!

Musings Montecito

Thoughts are flittering, random as I listen to sounds around me. The distant roar of traffic, called white noise, I prefer to think of it as 'ocean waves', the auk, auk, sound of a wood pecker in the trees along the road, and the ever present caw of crows, going on about something, and oh yeah, the occasional train whistle, coming from a distance moving ever closer. What did those first to hear a whistle blow think? Something so loud and foreign to birds in the air or the boisterous thunder? And the proprietors preparing to leave on a trip? All surround me, and the quiet so obvious.

I gaze at the downspouts out my window, full of dried leaves, gardens! The garden in this place shows great care. Gardens, do I dare go there with my thoughts? How life is depicted in the garden...the soil at rest, that is where my soul is and has needed to be.

Henry

Happy birthday Henry!! 3 years old! My how you have grown! You are such a joy and delight to your grams and grandad!! We love you very much!
I am remembering with a thankful heart, your birth event 3 years ago! The desire of your parents heart, the hope and anticipation! Little did any of us expect complications to your birth. The contractions bringing your heart rate low, dangerously low. We are so thankful for modern medicine, quick thinking nurses and doctors who stepped in and brought you into this world!!  Thank you to all who work in the field of medicine!!  Your work on all levels is sooo appreciated!! (especially since I get weak kneed entering a hospital!)
So, with much anxiousness, Henry, you were born!!!  Yeah!! So, may you have the happiest birthday!!  Hugs to you my Henry boy!!!

Beach Days

The beach has a power over me. Each visit brings a flood of voices and memories to mind. Today was no different. A mostly impulsive day trip to one of the best beaches close to us, Santa Barbara, with my son in law, daughter and their two boys. The first sensation of sand on my feet, toes digging into the warm sand, don't you love it?! And then the first chilling water as it rushes across my feet, and the pull of the sand as the water rushes back into the ocean, makes me dizzy! With the shadow of my childhood as my companion, I played with my Henry in the sand, scrunching our toes in the warmth. We threw rocks, since there aren't many shells, we ran from the waves and jumped the bigger waves! Henry and I walked the beach seeking a kite at the other end, but got distracted by the huge flock of sea birds! They were amazing! As Henry grew closer 200 birds of all kinds took flight over our heads!!! And I was 'blessed' by one of them! Henry nor I gathered driftwood to build a bonfire, those days of building a fire on the beach are pretty much gone, as well as picking crabs and starfish off the Rock, but the memories and voices of my childhood, with a grandmother walking the beach, showing us kids the treasures of the beach, were my companion today, along with a little reddish haired boy named Henry!

Has any one seen my ole friend....

I think there is a song similar to this....but since I only know 3 words to every song, I'm not sure how the rest of it goes....kinda like this blog! It was just recently brought to my attention, I hadn't blogged in like 10 months...due mostly to the difficulty of not having a computer to access on my own time. However, I now own my first Mac product, an IPad...which I love, but still trying to figure out all the 'how' to do it...for example, I thot I should update my profile pic, but not quite sure how, and my apple genius lives in another state!!! I do better when I have hands on training instead of remote 'here's how'! Plus, the question was brought up, who would, or will read this stuff anyway? Well, maybe the two of us will read each others, and we can be each others cheerleaders!!! (flash to you in a cheerleading ensemble)

So, my assignment, school has started, to figure out my iPad and blog more....that is if any one cares!!! Or has seen?......

February

It is already February, and half way through the month.  The birthday celebration run is in full swing.  The Anderson's birthday's start in February and continue through May!  This year David  turned 30 on Feb 3!  It was really hard having him living in Texas for his big entry into the decade of 30, but he is loved nonetheless and we are grateful for his lovely wife and her family celebrating his birthday!  My mom is 84 last week. Hard to believe she is in her mid 80's...I have a fond memory of my grandmother  in her 80's wearing a funny hat during her birthday celebration. Seems like just a few years ago.   We celebrated with an adult dinner, very nice with my sister and brother and his wife...and now poised to celebrate Lorie's March 1.  It will be here quick!  To my family and friends, happy February birthday!

Neeeeeeew Year

Well it's been a long while since I posted.  Not much going on...a visit from Dave and Jilly in Nov, a pinochle party in Nov, which I was runner up champion, a visit from my dad, a trip to LA to see my niece's violin recital, oh yeah...Thanksgiving...did I have time to be Thankful?  Annual dinner with our CAMPP's family, and visit from the Carrell's...Wedding anniversaries, a visit from my one brother, Christmas...and here we are New Year and January half over...With my computer down it is difficult to post to my blog...does anyone out there read it anyway?  so not even sure why I try and post...maybe a new year's resolution   not to blog....
But it has been beautifully rainy here the last few days!!  Love it! Love it! Love it!  Described as 'Hollywood Rain' kind of in sheets, gusts of wind...and I'm enjoying every minute of it, because before too long the sun will shine and it will be time for swimming again!
